A Merry Fluffy Christmas Spotlight- Rhoadworks

Welcome to our November spotlights on the wonderful people sponsoring Adventures in Green Living for the upcoming A Merry Fluffy Christmas! Please take a moment to read about each sponsor and visit their shop.

Looking for an awesome shirt or onesie for your kids or as a gift? Take a gander at the sweet designs Rhoadworks offers and you may have trouble choosing just one!

A special shirt from Auntie? Check.

A onesie recognizing the furry siblings? Check Check.

And of course, my favorite, rainbows! Triple Check!

Worried about washing machine aftermath? Don't be! These designs won't crack or peel off. Lynn creates them all by hand- from the original design, to cutting it out and heat pressed. She has a nice selection of sizes, colors and styles for customers to choose from, too. Just when you think it can't get any better, they are also very affordable.

Let's get to know Lynn, the designer behind these fab graphics:

When did you learn to design?
I guess I just came by it naturally.  My father was a commercial artist by trade and always encouraged me to be artistic.  I majored in Art in college, but painted all the time.

Why do you create these items?
When this all started I wasn't working.  I had the urge to create something and start my own business.  My twin sister and I had just had our first grandchildren.  So we decided that onesies would be perfect.

Where do you get your ideas?
It sounds cliche, but my grandchildren inspire most of my designs. I realized that everyday humor can be very cute.  Other times ideas literally pop into my head.

What new items are you planning on adding to your shop?
I recently added some animals to my collection.  I want to start using the garments as a canvas and use my own painting and illustration.  I also want to keep adding more "dog designs"..I just love doing them.

How long have you had your shop?
In 2006 my sister and I started "Twin Sister's Ink".  We collaborated on designs and started selling our garments at local craft shows.  They were a hit.  We started selling to a few stores and within a year or so we were selling onesies in over 25 small boutiques nation wide.  Because of work constraints my sister was unable to continue helping me.  So, in 2009 "Rhoadworks" was born.  That same year I started Rhoadworks on Etsy.

What area of the country are you from?
I was born in Texas.  But, after I got married, we moved around a lot.  My son was born in Missouri, and my daughter was born in Mississippi.  We love the South.  Last year my husband and I settled happily in North Carolina for good.

Is this your sole job or do you have others?
I worked full time most of my married life.  But currently, this is the only job I get paid for, if that's what you mean.  My other job that I love and keeps me whole, is that of being a mother and grandmother.

Do you have any other hobbies?
I love redecorating, painting and gardening.  We moved around a lot, so it all came in handy.

Would you like to share anything about your family?
Being a twin has been fun.  There's a special bond that you share.  I can't imagine going through life without my "other half".  And no one is more interested in twins, than twins.  I have several designs just for twins.
Lynn, owner and artist of Rhoadworks

Hmm... twins run in our Crazy Green Family on both sides so who knows!? Might be needing a pair of your onesies some day, Lynn! Thanks for letting us get to know you better. It's so nice to put a face with a name, too.

Lynn is sending me some surprises to put in the A Merry Fluffy Christmas packages! I can't wait to see what arrives. Go check out her blog while you're here and follow on google friend connect if you're looking to bank an extra entry next week. Rhoadworks also has a facebook page in progress
